Morocco’s leading telecom operators, Maroc Telecom (IAM) and Inwi (Wana Corporate) have officially launched two joint ventures, Uni Fiber and Uni Tower, to accelerate the nationwide rollout of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and 5G infrastructure.
The move follows an agreement announced on March 27, 2025, and was formally approved by Morocco’s telecom regulator (ANRT) in a decision dated June 18, 2025.
Uni Fiber will oversee the deployment of passive infrastructure required to expand FTTH services, with an ambitious goal of reaching 1 million connections within two years and 3 million connections over five years. Meanwhile, Uni Tower will focus on expanding and modernizing telecom tower infrastructure, targeting 2,000 new or refurbished towers in three years and 6,000 towers over the next decade.
The first phase of the rollout represents a planned investment of MAD 4.4 billion over the next three years.
In line with regulatory requirements, both entities will offer open, transparent, and non-discriminatory access to their infrastructure for all duly licensed operators in the Kingdom. This collaborative infrastructure model is expected to enhance competition, reduce deployment duplication, and improve service availability across urban and rural areas.
The launch marks a major milestone in Morocco’s push toward universal broadband access and its transition to next-generation networks. With internet demand surging and digital transformation accelerating across sectors, the initiative is seen as critical to boosting digital inclusion and supporting economic growth.
Maroc Telecom and Inwi expressed gratitude to national authorities and stakeholders for their support and reaffirmed their joint commitment to contributing to Morocco’s technological advancement and long-term development.
