At the 17th U.S.-Africa Business Summit held in Luanda from June 22–25, 2025, the United States and Angola decisively barred the participation of the Algeria-backed Polisario Front.
The move, applauded by observers, further isolates Algeria diplomatically and bolsters Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
The decision comes two years after Angola withdrew its recognition of the so-called “SADR,” aligning itself firmly with Morocco. Today, over 90% of African nations support the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.
Morocco’s delegation, led by Minister Karim Zidane, included senior officials from AMDIE, CGEM, ONHYM, and ONCF. Held under the theme “Pathways to Prosperity,” the summit gathered over 1,500 participants, including heads of state and key economic actors.
Talks focused on infrastructure, renewable energy, digital economy, finance, and agri-business. A major topic was the future of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which expires in September 2025.
The summit echoed King Mohammed VI’s strategy of deepening African partnerships.
