Rabat is set to install 11 modern, high-tech public restrooms as part of a major urban improvement project launched by “Société Rabat Région Aménagement,” under the supervision of the Wilaya of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.
With an estimated budget of nearly 20 million dirhams, the initiative involves an international tender (N°A121/RRA/2025) for the supply, installation, and maintenance of innovative “smart toilets” across strategic locations in the city.
The project prioritizes accessibility, safety, and digital integration. The restrooms will be self-cleaning, vandal-resistant, and accessible to persons with reduced mobility. Features include automated cleaning systems, wide doors, emergency unlocking mechanisms, LED indicators, and real-time remote monitoring of water and energy use.
Work is scheduled over 38 months—2 months for installation and 36 for cleaning and maintenance. The smart toilets will also support Rabat’s digital city ambitions, offering a blend of modern urban design, environmental efficiency, and enhanced public hygiene infrastructure.
