The Moroccan Interprofessional Federation for the Poultry Sector denied claims that China has suspended imports of Moroccan poultry products.
In a statement issued today, the federation clarified that no sanitary agreement exists between Morocco and China, and no Moroccan poultry has ever been exported to the Chinese market.
Reports of a suspension due to an alleged Newcastle disease outbreak are, according to the federation, entirely baseless.
The federation confirmed that the last recorded outbreak in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra occurred in February 2024 and was fully resolved under national health protocols.
The disease, endemic in many poultry-producing countries, poses no risk to humans. Moroccan poultry meat and eggs remain safe for consumption.
The federation called for vigilance against the spread of misinformation, stressing ongoing collaboration with ONSSA to ensure full health safety along the value chain. It also warned against relying on unverified documents attributed to Chinese authorities.
