Tangier’s Corniche is scheduled for rapid improvements as the city prepares for the busy summer season.
Work is expected to start this weekend, with plans including the construction of two public padel courts, enhanced lighting, and other facilities to provide a refreshed leisure space along the seafront.
The project will focus on the northern section of the Corniche, the Mghogha River estuary, and Ghendouri Beach, aiming to boost the area’s appeal and attract more visitors.
Authorities are under pressure to complete the upgrades before Eid al-Adha, working day and night to meet the tight deadline.
These improvements are part of a broader effort to prepare Tangier for the Africa Cup of Nations finals later this year and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco is co-hosting with Spain and Portugal. Tangier is among the candidate cities to host a semifinal, making these upgrades a key part of the city’s infrastructure push.
