Director General of Morocco’s National Railway Office, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, said that the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line, launched by King Mohammed VI will extend Morocco’s high-speed rail network to 630 kilometers, making it one of the longest in the world.
In a press statement, Khlie highlighted that this major infrastructure project is part of Morocco’s broader development vision under the King’s leadership.
Over the past two decades, the railway sector has experienced significant growth, placing Morocco among the global leaders in high-speed rail.
He noted the rapid success of the Al Boraq train, which saw passenger numbers increase from 3 million in 2019 to 5.5 million in 2024.
Overall, the national rail system carried 53 million passengers last year.
Khlie emphasized that Morocco is now a hub for next-generation projects, with transformative initiatives across sectors set to elevate the country’s economic and social standing by 2030.
