TIME Magazine has named Moroccan-born scientist Ismahane Elouafi to its 2025 list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Elouafi currently leads CGIAR, a global research organization working towards food security by transforming food, land, and water systems, especially during the climate crisis. She previously served as the chief scientist at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
In the TIME feature, Bill Gates praised Elouafi’s work. “I met Ismahane on her very first day on the job, and I was immediately blown away by her brilliance and passion,” Gates wrote. He added that “the world is lucky to have Ismahane leading the way toward a future where no child goes hungry.”
