The Cybersecurity Monitoring and Response Center, under the General Directorate of Information Systems Security at the Ministry of National Defense, issued a warning on April 9 regarding a security vulnerability in WhatsApp for Windows.
The vulnerability affects versions of WhatsApp older than 2.2450.6, as identified by an external expert. This flaw, named CVE-2025-30401, could allow hackers to execute remote attacks on affected systems. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, confirmed the issue and announced a patch to address the vulnerability.
The center urged users to follow the security bulletin from Meta to install the necessary updates and secure their systems. This warning comes in the wake of several cyberattacks targeting official websites in the country last week, with a group of Algerian hackers claiming responsibility for the breaches.
