The latest development regarding the widely discussed “Temara slapping incident,” the Ministry of Interior has decided to withdraw its demands in the case. Represented by the Prefecture of Skhirat-Temara, the ministry is now only seeking a symbolic one dirham in damages.

Bouchaib Essoufi, a lawyer representing the defendants, confirmed this development. “We are still waiting for the Caid (local authority figure) himself to drop the charges against our clients, for whom we have requested acquittal,” he stated. “Especially for Chaimae, whom we consider a victim of provocation who acted in self-defense.”

Speaking outside the Court of First Instance in Temara, Essoufi added, “We previously requested a delay in this case after filing a complaint against the civil claimant [the Caid], which is scheduled for early next week. However, the court considered the case ready for proceedings today, while arguments regarding this file are still ongoing.”

The case has drawn significant public attention. The defense continues to await a potential withdrawal of charges by the Caid involved.
