The Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies (FAAV) is holding its second annual congress from April 3 to 6 in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, with the participation of over 120 travel agencies and tourism operators.
This congress offers Andalusian tourism professionals the opportunity to discuss organizational and institutional matters, while also allowing them to discover the region’s tourism assets, particularly the destinations of Tangier, Tetouan, and the Tamuda Bay coastline.
Considered a key event for Spanish travel agencies, the congress, held in the presence of institutional partners and Moroccan and Spanish economic stakeholders, contributes to promoting the northern region as a travel destination and to establishing partnerships and cooperation agreements with Spanish tourism players.
Speaking to MAP on the sidelines of the official opening ceremony held Saturday in M’diq, FAAV president Luis Arroyo Marín emphasized that this event is part of the implementation of the partnership agreement signed between the Federation, which includes more than 1,600 Andalusian travel agencies, and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), during the 45th edition of the International Tourism Fair held last January in Madrid.
Arroyo Marín noted that this congress is an opportunity to discover an exceptional tourist destination, attractive for its natural landscapes, cultural sites, refined gastronomy, and the warm hospitality of its people. He highlighted that the event allowed the Spanish delegation members to appreciate the considerable tourism potential of the northern region.
He also stated that Morocco is the preferred destination for Andalusians in 2025, and noted that the Federation hopes this collaboration with the ONMT will help boost tourist flows from Spain and increase the presence of Spanish visitors, especially in the northern region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Khalid Mimi, ONMT Director for Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, stated that in 2024, Morocco became the leading tourist destination in Africa, with a record 17.4 million visitors, marking a 20% increase compared to 2023.
Mimi also highlighted the significant growth of the Spanish market in recent years, driven by the cultural and geographical proximity between the two countries, as well as ongoing efforts to strengthen air and maritime links that facilitate tourism exchanges.
For her part, Rkia Alaoui, President of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, emphasized the importance of this event, which brings together over 120 representatives of Andalusian tourism companies. She noted that the aim is to connect Spanish tourism operators with the region’s natural and cultural assets, as well as to explore opportunities for developing new tourism offerings.
