Bayern Munich announced on Saturday that club legend Thomas Müller will play his final matches for the Bavarian giants during this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place from June 15 to July 13 in the United States.
Müller, 35, joined Bayern at the age of 10 and has spent 25 years with the club, amassing 743 appearances and lifting 33 trophies. In a statement on its website, Bayern said Müller “made history with the club.”
The club plans to honor Müller with a farewell match, paying tribute to what it called his “exceptional career.” One of Germany’s most decorated footballers, Müller’s honors include a 2014 FIFA World Cup title, two UEFA Champions League crowns, 12 Bundesliga championships, six German Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups.
