The Office national des aéroports (ONDA) has shed light on the fire that broke out on Thursday in the Royal Air Maroc cargo area at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport, reporting that the fire has been brought under control and that no human damage has been reported.

In a press release issued on Friday, ONDA stresses that as soon as the fire was detected, which broke out at 7.30pm, a rapid and coordinated response was undertaken by the airport fire department, with the immediate mobilization of all personnel concerned.

Trucks from the Airport Fire Fighting Service (SLIA) intervened, joined by those of the Civil Protection, with the support of teams from the Royal Gendarmerie, adds the same source.

Thanks to the responsiveness of the response teams, the fire was fully under control by 9 p.m., says the press release, noting that there were no human casualties, although some material damage was reported.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of the incident.
