The 2025 Global Financial Resilience Ranking, published by FM Economic and Financial Solutions, placed Morocco at 70th globally out of over 130 countries, scoring 56.1 points.
This performance makes Morocco the leader in North Africa, ahead of Egypt at 74th, Tunisia at 75th, and Algeria at 91st, while Mauritania and Libya were absent from the list.
The index assesses the resilience of business environments, evaluating the risks countries face and their ability to recover quickly from crises and emergencies. It considers various factors, including education, healthcare spending, inflation rates, logistics, urban expansion, and water stress.
Morocco also ranked 46th globally in the Climate Challenges Index with 89.5 points and 95th in the Water Stress Index. It scored 99th in education and 90th in urban expansion, while securing the 30th position in the Cybersecurity Index.
Denmark topped the global ranking with a perfect score of 100, followed by Luxembourg in second place with 99.5 points. Chad ranked last at 130th place, receiving no points.
Within the Arab League, Qatar led the rankings at 37th globally, scoring over 76 points, followed by the UAE at 43rd with 73.6 points, and Saudi Arabia at 48th. Bahrain and Oman ranked 54th and 56th, respectively.
The report highlights that around 50 countries in the index recover faster from material losses, with over 30% faster recovery than the global average. It notes the impact of current global conflicts, technological advancements, and inflation on these countries’ resilience. Despite improvements in inflation rates across many European nations, such as the UK, France, and Germany, Belgium experienced a significant 67-point drop in inflation from 2024 to 2025. Meanwhile, Russia continues to struggle with inflation due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which resulted in its ranking drop by six places.
The report emphasizes that geopolitical risks, particularly ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, must remain a priority for enhancing financial resilience in 2025.
