Morocco is set to experience fluctuating weather conditions in the coming days due to a strong low-pressure system affecting Western Europe, particularly France, Portugal, and Spain, according to Hussein Youabed, communications officer at the Directorate General of Meteorology.
Speaking to Hespress AR, Youabed said that Friday’s weather will be partly cloudy with scattered showers over the western Rif region, extending overnight to Tangier, Loukkos, Rif, Gharb, and the Atlantic plains north of El Jadida. Snowfall is expected in the Middle Atlas and Rif mountains, accompanied by relatively strong winds in several areas. Temperatures will range between 9°C and 17°C in mountainous regions.
On Saturday, unstable conditions will persist, with rain and occasional thunderstorms forecasted for the Rif, Saïss, Gharb, Phosphate Plateaus, Oulmes, Chaouia, and Doukkala. Snowfall will continue in the High and Middle Atlas, while strong winds in the south, central coasts, Rif, and Atlas regions will intensify the cold, with minimum temperatures possibly dropping to -3°C in mountainous areas.
By Sunday, another low-pressure system will bring continued cloud cover and showers, particularly in northwestern Morocco, the Rif, Gharb, and Saïss regions, as well as the Atlas Mountains. Some interior areas may also experience scattered rainfall, while snowfall persists over high-altitude areas. Strong winds are expected along the central coast, in Tangier, and in the eastern region, along with a slight drop in temperatures.
Early next week, unstable weather will persist, with rain expected in the northwest, Rif, Mediterranean coast, and Saïss. Snowfall will remain possible in the mountains.
By Tuesday, partly cloudy conditions will dominate, with a chance of scattered showers in the north and center. Gradual weather improvement is expected by Wednesday, as rainfall subsides and stable conditions return across most regions.
