A driver in Rabat has been detained after allegedly brandishing a plastic toy gun during a road rage incident, prompting a judicial investigation. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, March 20th, is under scrutiny by local authorities.

The investigation began after a taxi driver filed a complaint with police on Wednesday. The taxi driver accused another motorist, driving a diplomatic vehicle, of shouting insults and then displaying what appeared to be a handgun after a disagreement over right-of-way.

Police identified and apprehended the suspect, a Moroccan national working as a driver for a foreign diplomatic mission in Rabat. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered the object in question was, in fact, a plastic toy gun.

Despite the fact that the “weapon” was a toy, the driver has been taken into custody pending the completion of a full investigation supervised by the public prosecutor. The investigation will determine the driver’s motivations and the appropriate legal response.
