Morocco ranks 112th in the 2024 World Happiness Report, down from 107th last year, marking its second consecutive decline.
The report, based on Gallup data, was released on March 20, coinciding with the International Day of Happiness.
Finland remains the happiest country, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Morocco scored 4.622 points, ranking 9th in the Arab world.
The UAE leads the region at 21st globally, with Kuwait (30th), Saudi Arabia (32nd), and Oman (52nd) following. Morocco is 3rd in North Africa after Libya (79th) and Algeria (84th).
The report also notes a rise in happiness inequality within countries and stable inequality between nations.
Countries with higher foreign aid tend to report higher happiness, while those with large refugee populations are generally less happy. The ranking considers GDP, freedom, and corruption, among other factors.
