Passenger traffic between the Spanish ports of Algeciras and Tarifa and Tangier was disrupted on Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions affecting the Strait of Gibraltar, the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras announced.
Several departures scheduled for the morning from Algeciras to Tangier Med were affected, with delays reported on the 09:00 and 09:45 crossings, while the 07:00 departure was canceled, the same source noted.
At the port of Tarifa, which has already been experiencing several days of disruptions, all crossings for the day were canceled except for the 20:00 departure, which will be subject to weather conditions.
Additionally, Spain’s national meteorological agency (Aemet) issued a yellow alert in effect until 12:00 for the Strait of Gibraltar and several areas of the province of Cádiz, where rainfall of up to 40 liters per square meter is expected in some localities.
The Strait’s coastline also remains under meteorological vigilance for strong waves, with southwesterly wind gusts reaching 61 km/h, according to Aemet.
