Ceuta welcomes second shipment via new commercial customs line

On Thursday, the Sebta presidium welcomed the second delivery of fresh fish from Morocco. This is the second commercial shipment in the city’s history, as it previously had no commercial customs.

This is the second successful shipment from Morocco to enter Sebta to deliver products demanded by entrepreneurs and the local population.

A truckload of fresh fish managed to enter the city and pass the required sanitary checks while completing the necessary documentation. The shipment included 300 kilos of red mullet, turbot, monkfish, cuttlefish, squid… as well as other types of fish destined for sale to fishmongers or restaurants.

The first shipment, last Friday, included the same type of products, but in much smaller quantities, since it was a test delivery and the economic risk in the event of refusal of entry was great in terms of losses given the nature of the products.

The fish delivered meets all European requirements, as explained last week by the government delegation in the town of Sebta. The lorry passed the controls at the Tarajal border crossing and then went on to the port of Sebta to check the health certificates.

The merchandise was also checked to see if it corresponded to the initial request. Checks are also carried out on the import documentation, including that which guarantees that the goods were legally caught on vessels registered in Morocco.

This second successful operation confirms the official opening and operation of these commercial customs in the towns of Sebta and Melilla. The latter also saw a similar delivery on Thursday from Beni Enzar.
