Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has ordered the reconstruction of the country’s handball sport based on modern scientific principles, seeking the assistance of specialists, including foreign experts.
This decision follows Algeria’s disappointing performance in the 29th Men’s Handball World Championship, where the team finished 30th with one win and six losses. The presidency announced that the government is ready to provide financial support to help restore the national team’s standing.
Ten days ago, Algerian authorities ordered an investigation into the team’s poor performance during the tournament held in Denmark, Croatia, and Norway.
The authorities have also urged the Minister of Sports, Walid Sadi, to quickly organize both the regular and extraordinary General Assemblies in accordance with the rules of the Algerian Handball Federation.
This follows the resignation of the Federation’s president and the fallout from the team’s early exit from the competition. Authorities have requested a detailed report on the management of the Federation and the team’s participation in the event.
