Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Friday that Saudi health authorities have decided to suspend the mandate for meningitis shot for Umrah pilgrims.
In a press release, the Ministry stated that proof of meningitis vaccination was no longer required to perform the Umrah rites in Saudi Arabia.
However, the Ministry recommends those wishing to perform Umrah to be vaccinated, given the vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing meningitis.
The meningitis vaccine is still available in accredited health centers across the Kingdom’s regions and provinces, according to the same source.
The list of health centers with meningitis vaccines is available on the website of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
