The producer price index for the manufacturing industries sector, excluding petroleum refining, decreased by 0.2% in December 2024 compared to November 2024, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This decline is the result of price drops of 0.7% in food industries, 0.5% in metallurgy, 0.6% in the textile industry, and 0.1% in both the manufacturing of electrical equipment and the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, the HCP explained in its latest information note on the industrial, energy, and mining producer price index (IPPIEM).
According to the same source, prices in the clothing industry, woodworking and manufacturing of wooden and cork products increased by 1.3% and 0.3%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the producer price indices for the extractive industries, electricity production and distribution, and water production and distribution remained stable in December 2024.
