Morocco’s National Coordination of “Zenzana 10” Teachers, representing Grade 9 graduates, has called for a protest outside the Ministry of National Education on February 1. The group is demanding justice and a resolution to their long-standing grievances, which they describe as “an ominous issue.”
In a statement, the group criticized what they see as systematic procrastination by authorities, accusing stakeholders of deliberately stalling progress to avoid addressing their demands.
The teachers have been advocating for their rights for months, citing recent setbacks that could undermine their cause. They warned against rolling back prior agreements and called for immediate action to address their concerns.
The coordination emphasized its demand for exceptional promotions to Grade 11 without quotas, retroactively applied with fair financial and administrative effects for all affected teachers.
Additionally, the group urged trade unions to continue their advocacy without retreating and called on the government to honor agreements that include supplementary compensation for marginalized groups such as primary and middle school teachers.
The coordination also rejected proposals to merge CNOPS and CNSS social security funds, citing fears of diminished worker benefits, and criticized proposed restrictions on strike laws.
The planned February 1 protest underscores the teachers’ determination to secure what they see as overdue recognition and fair treatment.
