Casablanca police officer suspended amid harassment investigation
Friday 24 January 2025 - 12:34

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has announced the temporary suspension of a police officer in Casablanca, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecution. The officer, a Police Chief in the public security division, is under investigation for alleged involvement in a criminal case.

The investigation was launched after a woman filed a complaint accusing the officer of harassment during his duties along the city’s coastal strip.

The officer was interrogated by authorities and will face trial on Thursday, January 23.

According to security sources, the suspension is a disciplinary measure aimed at upholding integrity and professional ethics within the force. The officer will be presented to the National Police Disciplinary Council at its next session to determine the final outcome of the investigation.

Alongside the judicial process, the DGSN emphasized its commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ensuring that the law applies equally to all. This swift action reflects the ongoing efforts to promote accountability and good governance within Morocco’s security forces.
