Moroccan national security officers at the Bab Sebta border post arrested a 19-year-old Swedish national on Thursday, subject to an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities, according to security sources.
A database check through Interpol revealed that the suspect is internationally wanted under a red notice issued by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Stockholm. The individual is suspected of involvement in the possession of assault weapons for criminal purposes, officials confirmed.
The suspect has been placed in custody pending his referral to the public prosecutor’s office. Interpol’s office in Rabat, part of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has notified its Swedish counterpart to initiate extradition procedures.
No additional details regarding the suspect or the alleged crimes have been disclosed at this time.
