Morocco’s Upper House Speaker Mohamed Ould Errachid underscored, on Thursday in Rabat, the significance of the parliamentary dimension in supporting and promoting Moroccan-French relations.
Speaking at a meeting with a delegation from the France-Morocco Friendship Group in the French Senate, Ould Errachid voiced the House of Councillors’ readiness to engage in all initiatives designed to strengthen institutional relations. These englobe notably the reactivation of the work of the friendship and cooperation group in both Houses, according to a press release from the House.
He also expressed his pride in the continuous progress of bilateral relations, thanks to the cooperation between the two friendly countries, particularly after the historic visit of the French President to Morocco at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The move marked a new chapter in bilateral relations, he said, making them a unique model in international relations thanks to decades of joint action resulting in a comprehensive framework based on bilateral agreements and treaties in all areas of cooperation.
The french delegation expressed its satisfaction with the brotherly and historical ties between France and Morocco, while also praising the exceptional cooperation between the French Senate and the House of Councillors.
Following their visit to the Dakhla Atlantic port, the French delegation expressed admiration for it as a regional development hub that paves the way for strengthening cooperation between Africa and the Atlantic.
The Senate delegation includes Max Brisson, Anne-Catherine Loisier, and Laure Darcos.
