Morocco’s Directorate of Customs and Indirect Taxes has announced new retail prices for cigarettes, effective January 1, 2025. The update was outlined in Circular No. 6624/214, issued Tuesday, detailing changes in domestic consumption taxes on manufactured tobacco.
According to the circular, signed by Director-General Abdelatif El Amrani, the adjustments follow Minister of Economy and Finance Decision No. 3185.24, published in the Official Gazette on December 30, 2024.
Under the new pricing structure, a pack of Marlboro Red Beyond or Marlboro Beyond Blue will now retail for 41 dirhams. Camel Silver, Filters, and Lights will cost 35 dirhams, while Camel Blue and Yellow are priced at 34.5 dirhams per pack.
Gauloises Lights will sell for 27 dirhams, Gauloises Sweet and Blend for 29 dirhams, and Gauloises Rich Gold for 30 dirhams. Fortuna cigarettes will range between 25 and 26 dirhams, depending on the variety.
Other updated prices include L&M Intense at 27 dirhams per pack, Winston Blue and Red at 34 dirhams, Casa at 29 dirhams, Marquise Classic at 28 dirhams, and Marquise Lights at 26 dirhams.
The 2025 Finance Law, published last month, projects revenues exceeding 13.7 billion dirhams from taxes on manufactured tobacco, classified as domestic consumption taxes. This measure aims to boost state revenues while aligning with broader fiscal policies.
