The Royal Gendarmerie in Benslimane Province has launched a preemptive campaign against drug dealers and makers of traditional alcohol, Mahia, in preparation for New Year’s celebrations.
Acting under the supervision of the regional command in Settat and the provincial commander in Benslimane, authorities seized 500 liters of Mahia ready for distribution from Douar Al-Amour in the Sidi Al-Fadala commune.
Additionally, law enforcement confiscated 30 kilograms of cannabis, 10 kilograms of tobacco leaves, and half a kilogram of hard drugs during the operation.
Two young drug dealers, identified as brothers in their twenties, escaped before authorities arrived. Both are wanted on national warrants and had been operating near a local school, prompting residents to applaud the Gendarmerie’s actions.
In a separate operation, the Gendarmerie arrested a major drug dealer in the Wadi Nfifikh forest near the under-construction Hassan II Stadium in Mansouria. The suspect was wanted on 26 search warrants, making his arrest a significant achievement for the local authorities.
During the raid, officials seized 9 kilograms of cannabis, 7 kilograms of tobacco leaves, and a vehicle used in the suspect’s operations.
The 50-year-old suspect was brought before the prosecutor at Benslimane Primary Court and subsequently detained at the local prison.
