Morocco’s economy is set for a positive trajectory in 2025, according to a new financial report released by BMCE Capital Global Research.

The optimistic outlook comes on the heels of the approval of the first part of the 2025 Finance Bill by the House of Representatives’ Finance and Economic Development Committee.

The report said Morocco is set to benefit from easing monetary tensions at the international level, particularly with the US Federal Reserve (Fed) and the European Central Bank (ECB) having taken steps to lower interest rates.

These developments are expected to open up new horizons for the global economy and positively impact the Moroccan economy.

The reports said that the efforts made in recent years to improve the performance of the national economy are likely to find greater resonance in this emerging new environment, especially with the victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential elections.

BMCE Capital Global Research analysts also considered the signing of 22 agreements worth MAD 106 billion as part of an exceptional partnership between France and Morocco to be an exceptional catalyst for growth.

Analysts said that this new dynamic reinforces expectations of economic recovery in the coming years, in light of the major sporting events that Morocco intends to organize, which could give a strong boost to economic growth.

Regarding the public finance situation, the report said that the implementation of the 2024 Finance Act showed, until the end of September, a current surplus of MAD 29.1 billion, compared to 6.1 billion a year earlier.

Analysts pointed to the economy’s resilience but noted that its sluggish performance is significantly tied to the mismanagement of agricultural production.

Severe droughts over the past six years have had a detrimental impact, particularly on rural employment. Despite the creation of 213,000 net jobs last year, the unemployment rate persists at a high 13.6% in the third quarter.

To address this pressing issue of unemployment, analysts said that robust economic support measures are necessary.

The 2025 Finance Bill directly tackles this challenge through an action plan that includes the creation of 29,000 public sector jobs, the implementation of employment incentives such as reduced social burdens, and the issuance of decrees to foster growth in small and medium-sized enterprises.
