Sunday 3 November 2024 - 19:33

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has completed its evaluation of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup, according to sources from the Saudi “Al-Ikhbariya” channel.

FIFA’s assessment followed visits to review the country’s infrastructure and proposed venues for matches and teams. The organization confirmed that the points system used in the technical evaluation is just one part of the overall process, which also focuses on infrastructure and commercial aspects.

FIFA plans to release complete evaluation reports on Saudi Arabia’s World Cup bid on its website by the end of November, with the winning host to be announced on December 11.

Yasser Al-Mishal, President of the Saudi Football Federation, previously stated that the kingdom’s bid has received unprecedented support from over 140 countries, reflecting strong international confidence in hosting the event.

During a press conference in Riyadh, Al-Mishal described this moment as historic for Saudi Arabia, noting that the country is preparing to host the largest World Cup ever, featuring 48 teams.

He emphasized the cooperation among government sectors to ensure the success of the event, asserting, “We will present the best version in the history of World Cups on Saudi soil in 2034.” Al-Mishal highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 has opened doors for the world to see the kingdom, making the World Cup a major aspiration for the Saudi community.

The majority of matches will be held in Riyadh across eight stadiums, including King Fahd International Stadium and King Salman International Stadium. Jeddah will host matches in four venues, while Neom, Abha, and Khobar will also serve as match locations.

In addition to the five main cities hosting World Cup matches, 10 other cities are prepared to welcome the event, along with two proposed locations for fan festivals, three venues for related events, and a total of 230,000 hotel units across all cities.
