The Moroccan embassy in Beirut has launched a new campaign to gather personal information from these individuals and their families.
However, the embassy continues to inform them that “there are no evacuation orders yet.”
Many Moroccans are either stuck in southern Lebanese towns heavily targeted by bombings or have managed to reach cities near Beirut, where they are hosted by fellow citizens.
They unanimously refuse to stay in emergency shelters, which lack proper bedding, hygiene facilities, and privacy. They believe that the only solution to their fear is repatriation to Morocco, especially as their limited funds are running out.
According to Minister Mostapha Baitas, “Moroccans in Lebanon are safe, with no fatalities among them,” and a crisis cell at the embassy has successfully facilitated the repatriation of some individuals.
However, many express deep anxiety due to the ongoing bombings.
