Moroccan technology entrepreneur Imane Berchane, co-founder of “Robots & More” and “LOOP for Science and Technology,” was selected as part of the seventh group of the Obama Foundation Scholars program.
According to a statement received by Hespress, this year’s program includes 30 emerging leaders from around the world, who will participate in an intensive academic year-long program for 2024-2025 at Columbia University in New York or the University of Chicago.
Imane Berchane, an alumna of the TechWomen program, is a pioneer in social technology and an advocate for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. She is also dedicated to promoting gender equality and social justice in Africa.
The Moroccan scholar aims to equip marginalized students with future-ready tech skills through her projects in tech education and non-profit organizations.
“Imane aims to provide underserved students with future-proof skills through access to STEM education,” the Obama Foundation wrote on its website, adding that she partnered with Morocco’s Ministry of Education and international sponsors to introduce STEM programs to over 180 schools, train 500 teachers, and increase girls’ participation in STEM education programs to over 50%.
