Electric car sales in Morocco increased over the past year, with the market share for these vehicles reaching 0.6%, a 50% jump from the previous year, according to a report by the Automotive Importers Association.
While this growth is notable, it still lags behind European markets, where electric cars account for 47% of total sales.
In 2023, Moroccan electric car sales doubled to 463 units. This surge is attributed to a wider range of options available, with the number of brands rising from 18 to 24 and the number of models increasing from 71 to 82. Fully electric vehicles (BEVs) continue to dominate the market, accounting for all 463 units sold. Government incentives, such as tax exemptions and financial support, have played a significant role in encouraging consumer adoption.
