Employees of Morocco’s National Motorway Company (ADM) will launch a six-day warning strike starting this Friday, set to impact toll stations nationwide. The strike is scheduled for August 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25, with work stoppages planned from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Urgent assistance services will not be affected.
The National Union of Employees at ADM announced the strike in response to what it describes as a “shutdown of dialogue and violation of trade union rights” guaranteed by national and international laws. The union aims to address concerns over workers’ rights, working conditions, and overall respect for employee dignity.
In a press release, the union criticized ADM for not honoring commitments made in the 2018 social charter and highlighted the inaction of monitoring committees tasked with resolving disputes. The union also expressed frustration over ADM’s refusal to engage in meaningful dialogue, warning that continued inaction could worsen conditions for workers and delay fair treatment.
This strike follows a series of protests, including a sit-in in July and a demonstration in front of ADM’s headquarters in June. The union’s action comes after what it calls “two months of anger,” underscoring ongoing tensions between workers and management.
