The Moroccan Olympic national team swept its Iraqi counterpart, 3-0, on Tuesday in the third round of the group stage football competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
After this important victory, the Moroccan Olympians were able to top the B group with a total of 6 points, obtained from two victories and one defeat, to ensure qualification for the quarterfinals of the competition.
Amir Richardson first reached the Iraqi net in the 19th minute, then Sofiane Rahimi added the second goal in the 28th minute, and then Abdessamad Zelzouli surprised the opponent’s goalkeeper with a powerful shot from outside the box in the 36th minute, sealing the third goal for the Moroccan squad.
It is worth mentioning that the Olympic team had opened the competition with a 2-1 victory over Argentina, and there was a surprise when the team lost, by the same score, to Ukraine in the second round.
