The BDS Boycott Movement in Morocco, Spain, and Gibraltar have joined forces in a campaign to monitor and advocate for the prevention of two Israeli-bound vessels carrying war fuel from reaching their destination, revealed pro-palestinian activist Sion Assidon in a statement to Hespress Ar.
These ships are part of “US support for the Zionist army in its war of extermination in the Palestinian Gaza Strip,” which, in eight months, has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians, including 15,000 children.
Most of the other victims have been elderly women and other civilians, according to official Palestinian statistics.
The Moroccan human rights activist said, “there is a significant mobilization in the southern Spanish region, especially in Algeciras, which is the main area of concern.
“Considering Spain’s previous position, there is a chance that the ships will be prevented from docking there, and the same applies to Gibraltar,” he added.
This is why, Assidon explained that “the campaign is also working on the Moroccan front to ensure that no ships bound for Israel are allowed to dock or be supplied with fuel or provisions.”
The same spokesperson referred to “questions raised in the Spanish Parliament” about the boycott campaign and an upcoming written question in Morocco on the same issue.
“These efforts are meant to warn the government about the planned docking of the two ships, which are set to pass through Mediterranean waters at the end of July,” revealed Assidon.
He also pointed out that one of the ships is “scheduled to deliver special fuel for warplanes to Israel.”
The activist also noted that these actions in Morocco, Spain, and Gibraltar are part of a global initiative called “No Ports for Genocide,” which calls for an end to the supply of “war fuel” to Israel.
For context, the campaign is calling on countries to “block the passage of vehicles carrying military fuel to Israel through any Mediterranean port.”
According to the campaign’s guide, which Hespress reviewed, Israel is committing “serious violations of fundamental international law principles in Palestine, including ethnic cleansing and genocide, which are crimes against global peace and security.”
This means that “countries have a legal responsibility to work together to stop these illegal actions and prevent genocide by using all available measures,” reads the campaign’s guide.
