Appointed in January this year, Omar Berrada officially took over as Manchester United’s new CEO on Saturday July 13.

Omar Berrada announced his official debut as Manchester United’s new CEO on Saturday, and it didn’t take long for the Moroccan to mark the occasion by selling Liam Delap, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Lewis Fiorini and Tommy Doyle.

Earlier in January, Manchester United confirmed Berrada’s appointment as the club’s new CEO following his resignation as head of soccer operations at City Football Group. The Red Devils had been looking for a new chief executive following Richard Arnold’s resignation in November 2023.

Born in Paris to Moroccan parents, Omar Berrada began his soccer career at FC Barcelona in 2004, where he held the position of sponsorship manager before becoming senior director of media business development, a position he held until 2011.

He then joined Manchester City as Chief Football Operations Officer of the City Football Group (CFG), where he contributed to the club’s 22 league titles and the acquisition of renowned players, including Erling Haaland.
