Raja Casablanca won the Throne Cup against AS FAR (2-1) on Monday July 1 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, in a final that pitted the top two teams from the last Botola against each other. The Greens have thus completed the league and cup double.
The Casablanca side got off to a flying start, with Algerian Yousri Bouzok opening the scoring for Raja in the 4th minute. AS FAR quickly regained control of the game, creating a number of chances in front of Anas Zniti’s goal. Amine Zouhzouh finally broke the deadlock on 28 minutes.
The Moroccan champions waited until the end to make the difference. Mohamed Boulacsout scored the winner in the 79th minute.
With this latest title, Raja clinch their 9th Throne Cup and move up to 2nd place among the most successful clubs in this competition, alongside their rivals Wydad Casablanca, and behind their opponents AS FAR (12 titles).
At the end of the match, the Throne Cup trophy was presented to Raja Casablanca captain Anas Zniti by the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, in the presence of the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa.
On this occasion, the Faucon d’Agadir club was awarded the Futsal Throne Cup, while AS FAR received the Ladies Football Throne Cup.
