Residents Taounate reported feeling a mild earthquake shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The tremor was recorded by a number of European seismic monitoring centers, especially in the Iberian Peninsula, where the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported the tremor, noting in their statements that its epicenter was located on the outskirts of Aba Mohammed village.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) also announced that it had recorded this earthquake, which occurred at 12 pm and 3 minutes, adding that it had a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale and was at a depth of 2.2 kilometers.
