Morocco strongly condemns Thursday the recent storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by extremist groups, denouncing their provocative actions that disrespect the sanctity of this revered site.
This condemnation was expressed in an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
The statement reaffirms Morocco’s rejection of any actions that undermine the legal and historical status of Jerusalem and its holy sites, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI who chairs the Al-Quds Committee, emphasizes the importance of preserving the civilized and Islamic character of these sites and avoiding escalations or provocations.
Morocco reiterated its support for a just and comprehensive peace in the region, emphasizing the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This position aligns with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution framework, crucial for achieving sustainable stability in the region.
