Nearly three years after Morocco legalized the production of Cannabis for non-recreational use in the country, the Kingdom has exported a batch of legally produced cannabis products for the first time last week, according to Hespress sources.
Two licensed cooperatives under the supervision of the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Cannabis were able to export hemp extract, as part of a pilot operation that went successfully, paving the way for the export of cannabis and its legal products.
A source related to the export process, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Hespress: “This is a source of pride for us, since this product was forbidden and seized by the customs before, but today, they are the ones who now carry out the administrative procedures for export.”
“Today, with the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Cannabis, the first export has been successful, and we hope to carry out other operations.”
Marketing Moroccan cannabis products to countries around the world requires certificates of conformity for the quality of the transformation and respect for agricultural field practices.
This is the first time a Moroccan cannabis product has been exported for use outside the country. During the International Cannabis and Medicinal Herbs Trade Fair “Cannafest,” held in Prague last November, three cooperatives and three investors were granted exceptional licenses to display products made from Moroccan Indian hemp, but not to sell them.
Samples of more than ten Moroccan products were displayed at the fair, which received an exceptional license from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as well as licenses from the National Agency for the Legalization of Activities Related to Cannabis and the National Office for the Safety of Food Products.
