In a symbolic gesture of fraternity and solidarity, the Moroccan Embassy in Guinea orchestrated a collective Iftar, in collaboration with the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, at the Mohammed VI Mosque in Conakry. The event coincided with the inauguration of this religious landmark on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the enduring ties between the two nations.

Dignitaries from both countries, including a delegation from the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema led by Secretary General Mohamed Rifki, graced the ceremony. The event honored the presence of Guinean Muslim and Christian religious authorities, alongside accredited diplomatic representatives in the Republic of Guinea.

His Excellency Isam Taib, the Moroccan Ambassador to Guinea, underscored the everlasting significance of the Mohammed VI Mosque in Conakry within the context of the unique and longstanding bonds of brotherhood and solidarity shared between Morocco and Guinea. He hailed it as a beacon of cooperation, unparalleled in the African continent.

Ambassador Taib highlighted the multidimensional partnership spanning decades between Morocco and Guinea. He emphasized the deep-rooted religious and spiritual connections between the two nations, steeped in Maliki rites, Ash’ari dogma, and Sufism.

The Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Morshidin and Morshidat (male and female religious counselors), which has already trained nearly 500 Guinean religious scholars, was also commended as a testament to this enduring bond.

The Mohammed VI Mosque is envisioned not only as a place of worship but also as a hub for cultural, sociological, and scientific exchange, as well as a center for Arabic language education.

Secretary General Mohamed Rifki reiterated the pivotal role of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, in safeguarding spiritual security across the African continent.

Archbishop Jacques Boston, representing the Anglican Church of Guinea and West Africa, lauded the inauguration of the Mohammed VI Mosque as a profound gesture of friendship and gratitude from Morocco to Guinea.

Dienabou Diallo, President of the Association of Former Guinean Trainees and Students in Morocco (ASEGUIM), expressed profound gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI for this gift to Conakry, highlighting the enduring fraternal ties between the two nations.

The inauguration of the Mohammed VI Mosque, in accordance with the directives of HM King Mohammed VI, was a collaborative effort between the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema and the Guinean authorities.

Built according to authentic Moroccan architectural standards, the mosque boasts a capacity to accommodate over 3,000 worshippers on a sprawling one-hectare site.
