Transport and Logistics Minister Mohamed Abdeljalil on Thursday emphasized that the regulation of transportation through smart applications hinges on achieving consensus among the various stakeholders in the public transport sector before introducing this mode of transportation into the market.
Addressing a query concerning the “regulation of transportation through intelligent applications” during a press briefing following the Council of Government, Abdeljalil underlined that the regulation of transportation via these applications remains contingent upon reaching an agreement among diverse players in the public transport sector, encompassing both small and large taxis and buses, regarding the integration of this form of transportation.
While highlighting the “distinctive characteristics” of the Moroccan transport system, he underscored the significant role played by small and large taxis in facilitating the mobility of a considerable segment of public transport users, in contrast to other nations with multiple alternative transportation options.
Abdeljalil noted that the ministry is conducting a study to formulate a future vision for mobility across the Kingdom to modernize the public transport sector. This study will explore various aspects, including the management of new transportation modes, particularly in urban areas.
