Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, and his Libyan counterpart, Salem Al Shahoubi, discussed recently in Rabat ways of strengthening cooperation in the fields of transport and sustainable development.

During the meeting, the two parties commended the excellent relations of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries, underlining their shared willingness to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of transport and sustainable development, according to a press release by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.

On this occasion, Al Shahoubi expressed his country’s willingness to reopen air connectivity between the two countries, with a view to encouraging and promoting economic exchanges between Morocco and Libya, and contributing to the development of bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields, said the same source.

The Libyan official added that his country is ready to commit to any initiative aimed at opening a shipping line between the two countries, to promote bilateral trade and contribute to the Royal Initiative aimed at enhancing maritime connectivity with the countries along the Atlantic seaboard.

For his part, Abdeljalil expressed his department’s readiness to work to develop bilateral cooperation in the transport sector between the two countries, the statement added, noting that to this end, the two parties agreed to step up meetings of bilateral technical committees to examine ways of strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Libya, and to form a working team to draw up memorandums of understanding.

They also agreed to step up the exchange of experience and expertise in the fields of transport, and to offer Libyan skills training in Moroccan institutions, particularly in the field of civil aviation safety.
