Morocco and Germany signed, Saturday in Berlin, an agreement to implement the second phase of the “Agricultural and Forestry Technical Dialogue” (DIAF) project, as part of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, and the German Minister of Agriculture and Food, Cem Özdemir, on the sidelines of the Berlin International Green Week, the agreement focuses on organic production and exchanges between the two countries in the fields of science, innovation and good agricultural practices.
It was also decided to set up a joint technical working group to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation in the future, Sadiki told MAP.
The meeting was an opportunity for both parties to address extremely important issues concerning the food system, sustainability and agriculture, the Minister added.
For his part, Özdemir, who described relations with Morocco as “very important”, said that the agreement signed today will raise the level of bilateral partnership and exchange knowledge in the field of organic production.
The DIAF project has three components: promotion of organic farming; professionalization of professional agricultural and forestry organizations (OPAF), and improved planning and control in the forestry sector.
Earlier in the day, Sadiki had held talks with Italy’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, on ways of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.
