Nearly four months after Algerian sea border guards opened fire on four young Moroccans on jet skis, authorities have finally repatriated deceased Abdelali Mechouer’s body.

The fatal incident left two young Moroccans dead, one of whom’s body had washed up on Moroccan shores. Algerian authorities additionally detained one of the young Moroccans.

The body was retrieved via the “Zouj Bghal” border post in a vehicle transporting mortuary remains.

At the reception were members of the victim’s family, his friends, as well as elements of the Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces.

According to available information, the funeral for the victim of the Algerian shooting will take place tomorrow, Friday, in his hometown Oujda.

Algerian authorities are still detaining one of the four young people in one of their prisons.

The Algerian shooting incident dates back to August 29, when four young people left the Saïdia marina for a jet-ski trip to the “Ras El Ma” region in the province of Nador.

However, on their return to Saïdia, they lost their way, unwittingly entering Algerian territorial waters.
