An American woman died on Monday after being attacked by a shark while paddle boarding in The Bahamas.
The woman and a male relative were rescued by a lifeguard after the attack, but the victim suffered “serious injuries” and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Fatal shark attacks are rare in the Bahamas, however, this is the third reported incident in recent years.
On November 21, a 47-year-old German woman disappeared during a diving expedition following a shark encounter, while in September 2022, a 58-year-old American woman lost her life while snorkeling with her family in the waters of New Providence.
