Head of the lsraeli Laison office in Morocco has left Morocco today after the suspension of all consular and diplomatic operations within Morocco, according to Hespress sources.

The entire staff of the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat has simultaneously left Moroccan soil for Israel, the sources said.

In a report issued on Wednesday morning, Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that the Israeli Foreign Ministry executed an evacuation procedure for its embassy personnel situated in Morocco and Egypt. This action was attributed to what the ministry perceived as “the demonstrations that ensued in the wake of ongoing events in Gaza.”

Hundreds of protesters in Morocco took to the streets following reports of an Israeli strike that allegedly claimed the lives of at least 500 people in a Gaza hospital. demonstrators demanded the closure of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.

Morocco normalized ties with Israel under the auspices of the United States in December 2020. Since then, the two nations have maintained strong relations, with Israeli officials frequently visiting the kingdom to sign numerous trade and arms-related agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Eight months later, Israel established its temporary liaison office in Rabat and appointed David Govrin as its representative in the North African Kingdom. Govrin was subsequently recalled to Israel in August amid accusations of sexual harassment and mismanagement of his duties, but has since returned.
