Morocco’s Ministry of Health provided recommendations and travel advice related to international travel on its official portal and social media platforms, in light of the French bedbug outbreak.
The ministry urged citizens in a statement not to succumb to rumors and to refrain from overestimating the health risks associated with the entry of these insects into the country.
Citizens are also advised to avoid buying used bedding, furniture, and clothing from countries with significant bed bug infestations.
In its statement, the Ministry emphasized it has taken “comprehensive measures” to mitigate the risk of bed bug infestations entering and spreading within the Kingdom.
According to a statement from the ministry, coordinated efforts with relevant authorities continue to closely monitor the situation and have not reported any exceptional spread of bed bugs within Moroccan borders thus far.
Additionally, the ministry has strengthened health surveillance at the borders and is closely monitoring the health and environmental conditions in areas affected by bedbug outbreaks.
