Toulouse FC’s Moroccan international Zakaria Aboukhlal, who suffered an injury last week against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, underwent successful surgery, his club announced on Thursday evening, adding that the Atlas Lion would be unavailable until the end of the season.
“Injured last week in the European Cup, the operation on Zakaria Aboukhlal (23) went well. However, our striker will probably be unavailable until the end of the season. TéFéCé wishes him a good convalescence and is looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch”, reads X (ex-Twitter) of the last French Cup winner.
At the start of the season, the Moroccan international (21 caps, 3 goals) stood out with three goals to his name, making him currently Les Violets’ top scorer, the club also reminds us on its website that Aboukhlal’s injury is a “major blow” for the team.
The Moroccan international “is not expected to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Côte d’Ivoire on January 13, 2024”, notes the same source.
