Spanish football club Sevilla FC has extended a helping hand to the victims of Morocco’s recent earthquake. The club announced its offer to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to host a charity football match in Morocco, in an official statement on its website.

The objective of this match is to raise funds for those affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco on Sept. 8, claiming nearly 3,000 lives.

The announcement came during an event organized by the Andalusian Moroccan Friendship Association – Ibn Rushd Forum, where sentiments of condolence and unity with the Moroccan people prevailed.

The initiative, championed by Sevilla FC’s president José Castro, seeks to use sports as a means to provide financial support to earthquake victims. Castro had previously shared this generous offer with Moroccan diplomatic representatives, including the Consul of Morocco in Sevilla.

The proposal centers around organizing a friendly football match against either the Moroccan national team or a local club. Sevilla FC’s effort exemplifies the immediate and practical assistance that sports can offer in times of crisis, showcasing the power of compassion and unity.
